Can you be a good daughter and a good student?

My mom got really sick last week and I have been spending every night at the hospital with her. I am totally exhausted, and I have to work during the day to pay the bills. I have a huge assignment due in two days and I have not written a single page. The pressure is getting so heavy that I actually had the thought that I should find someone to write my assignment just to survive this week. Do you guys think I should ask my professor for an extension or just try my best?
